A history lesson…

People say if you’re hungry, you’ll succeed. I was hungry, but it was only until I realized I had to change me that I could be. It took about 35 years and dozens of mentors to see who was inside of me.

I made a decision to change, to stop drifting, to focus and be on point. It was an intentional choice. We all have the same choice, every day. But it takes guts. It takes the courage to step out of your comfort zone and make the changes.
If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.
It was time for me to change things up.

I wanted to be with smart people with integrity. I went to the library. I grew myself. I paid attention. I took Led Zeppelin out; I put in the masters of inspiration and motivation, Brian Tracy and the late Zig Ziglar. My station at the salon filled with books, tapes, and later CDs. I asked myself: WHAT IF I READ A BOOK A MONTH??

I learned good eye contact works. But what if you looked for the color of a person’s eyes every time and complimented them? And genuinely tried to get to know them? I mean, what I could do for them! Zig Ziglar:“If you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want,”

If I tell you how bad I have it, you think of your problems. We enter the “Dead Zone.” People want to escape problems. That’s why later, when someone asked: “How are you?” I’d say, “U N B E L I E V A B L E !! And you?” That simple word covered me. Good or bad. Either it was so bad you wouldn’t believe it, or my day was out of sight.

What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? Anything? E V E R Y T H I N G!!
You can’t fail in anyone’s eyes but your own.
The greatest obstacle preventing you from being all you want to be is y o u.

Remember, there’s urgency. We’re dying. You either live to live or you live to die!
Andy said this to Red in the movie, The Shawshank Redemption:
“It comes down to a simple choice: get busy living or get busy dying.”

When you choose to live, when you put mistakes behind you, when you see your infinite potential, someday, when someone asks how you are, you’ll say, with hunger, and a genuine smile, as you lean closer to discover the color of their eyes:
“U N B E L I E V A B L E !! And you?”

Make today your day. Be unbelievable. Lord knows, if I can do it, SO CAN YOU!
Peace
